A young business proving an established technology in a market that’s never seen it before. Here’s the evidence to date – and an honest read on what we’ve still got to prove.

The honest framing.

Ultrasonics has been used industrially for many years – parts cleaning, surgical instruments, electronics. The technology is established and well understood. What’s new is applying it to diesel particulate filters in New Zealand.

We’ve been doing this for around six months of focused effort. We’ve cleaned filters from major fleet operators, recurring industrial customers, and a growing list of workshops. Every job comes back with documented flow pressure proof.

What we don’t have yet is a hundred written customer reviews. We’re building that. What we do have is a small set of customers who keep sending us work – the kind of evidence that says more than a five-star rating.

Three failed pressure cleans

A workshop sent us a filter that pressure cleaning had failed on three separate times. It was ready to be written off. Took longer in the tank than usual. Came up clean on the flow pressure test, refitted, vehicle back on the road.

The reason we put flow pressure readings on every invoice is straightforward: we’re a young business in a market that doesn’t know ultrasonics for DPFs yet, so we have to demonstrate the result every time, not just claim it.

The blocked-state reading is taken when the filter arrives. The cleaned-state reading is taken after the process. Both numbers go on the customer’s invoice. They have the proof in writing – not just our word.

That gets handed up to fleet managers, operators, and workshop customers. It’s the document the procurement person looks at when they’re asked “why didn’t we just replace it.”

What we’ve still got to prove.

We’re not pretending to have everything figured out. There’s real work ahead.

  • The full range of vehicles. Most of our work to date has been Japanese and European trucks. We’ve had less volume on big-bus units and some specialist plant equipment. Each new filter type teaches us something.
  • The patterns we don’t see yet. We’re still building data on which brands and duty cycles need cleaning more often, and which respond best. With more volume, the picture sharpens.
  • The owner-driver market. Most of our work today comes through workshops. Reaching owner-drivers directly takes longer because the trust signals work differently – they want to see other operators’ experience, not industry positioning.

All of which is why we’d rather under-promise and over-deliver than the other way round. The flow pressure proof on every invoice is non-negotiable. So is telling customers when cleaning isn’t the right answer.
