A fraction of replacement cost.

Replacement on a working truck starts at $4–5k for the part. Whole muffler boxes can run a lot more.

Cleaning runs from $450 + GST for a small DPF up to $1,200 + GST for the larger ones – about 15–20% of the cost of replacement. The same filter can come back to us multiple times. A filter in on Tuesday morning is cleaned/unblocked and on a courier back to you Thursday.

How it works

Five steps. Every filter.

You take it off and refit it; we do everything in between – pre-soak, ultrasonic bath, rinse and dry, with a flow pressure test at both ends. Times in each tank vary depending on what we're seeing.

  1. You remove the filter

    You or your mechanic takes it off and couriers it to us.

  2. Flow pressure test

    Filter on the test bench. Blocked-state pressure recorded.

  3. Pre-soak and ultrasonic tank

    Heated detergent, then 1–2 hours of bubbles working into every part of the filter.

  4. Rinse, dry, retest

    Cleaned-state flow pressure on the invoice. That's your proof.

  5. Back on the vehicle

    You or your mechanic refits it and the truck goes back to work.

The difference

Pressure shifts what's loose. Ultrasonics releases what's stuck.

Pressure cleaning has been around in New Zealand for ten years or more. It pumps liquid through the filter at high pressure. It moves the loose carbon. The ash, the asphalt-y residue from modern fuel, and the carbon stuck to the tube walls don't shift.

Ultrasonic bubbles get into every part of the filter. When they burst, they generate localised heat. That heat releases the stuck material so it can be rinsed out.

One workshop sent us a filter that pressure cleaning had failed on three times. Took longer than usual in the tank. It came up clean.

Do I need to remove the DPF myself?
In most cases, yes – your diesel mechanic removes it, you (or they) courier it to us.
How long does it take?
Standard turnaround is 2 days from when the part arrives. If a filter comes in Tuesday morning, we'll have it on a courier back to you Thursday.
Will it definitely clean it?
Yes – 100% so far, across well over a hundred filters, including ones that pressure cleaning had failed on. Some take longer in the tank than others.
Can the same filter be cleaned more than once?
Yes. The process is completely harmless to the filter – we guarantee it won't damage it. We've put the same filter through three or four times. They don't wear out from cleaning.
