For Owner Drivers

Your truck is your living room. Don’t replace the engine to fix the filter.

If your dealer just told you the DPF needs replacing – that’s a $4–5k+ bill on a working truck. Wait. Get the filter cleaned first. about 15–20% of the cost of replacement, 2–3 days, and you’ve probably bought yourself another year before the conversation comes round again.

You know the stakes.

The truck off the road costs you revenue every day. The dealer’s saying $4–5k+ for a replacement DPF, and that’s before they get to the labour. They’ll sometimes try to sell you on a whole muffler swap – that can run a lot more.

You’re trying to decide fast. Maybe ask a mate. Maybe call another workshop. Meanwhile the warning light is on and the truck’s parked.

Here’s the thing: cleaning works on most filters that come to us, including ones that pressure cleaning has already failed on. Cleaning costs a fraction. And the same filter can be cleaned multiple times.

Talk to us before you commit to replacement. We’ll tell you straight whether your filter is a candidate.

Cleaning vs replacement, your truck.

Pricing confirmed on quote – varies by filter type and vehicle.

Option A

Get it cleaned

from $450 + GST
  • 2–3 days from when the part arrives
  • Original filter back, refitted
  • Flow pressure proof on your invoice
  • Same filter can come back to us next time
Option B

Replace it

$4–5k+
  • 1 day if stocked, weeks if imported
  • New part – possibly aftermarket
  • Dealer’s preferred answer
  • Same bill again next time

Some filters genuinely do need replacement – mostly because they’re mechanically damaged, not because they’re blocked. Talk to us first either way.

How it works for an owner driver.

Most owner drivers don’t do their own filter removal. Here’s the realistic path.

Talk to us first

Call or message. Tell us the truck and the symptoms. We’ll let you know whether cleaning is likely to work and what the standard cost looks like for your vehicle.

Your workshop pulls the filter

Most workshops are happy to pull a DPF for you, courier it to us, then refit when it comes back. If you don’t have a regular workshop, we can suggest one.

2–3 days, back on the road

The filter comes to us, gets cleaned and tested, and ships back. Your workshop refits it. You’re back earning revenue.

When cleaning isn’t the right call.

We’ll tell you straight if your filter isn’t a candidate. The main reasons:

  • Mechanically damaged. If the ceramic substrate is cracked or melted, no clean will fix it.
  • Wrong diagnosis. Sometimes the warning light is the oxygen sensor, not the DPF. Test the sensor first.
  • Already deleted. If a workshop has already gutted the filter and remapped the computer, there’s no filter to clean. We can fit you with a working filter and undo the delete – talk to us if that’s where you are.

Otherwise – most filters that come to us, get cleaned. Including ones that pressure cleaning had already failed on.

Don’t spend $4–5k before you’ve called us.

A short conversation tells us whether cleaning is the right call for your truck. No commitment. We’d rather tell you to replace it (when that’s right) than waste your time and ours.
